Thumbs-up for Brazil
The largest country in South America, Brazil is rapidly becoming a dream destination for many travelers. Already well-known for Carnival held in Rio De Janiero, Brazil's bustling urban areas, beautiful rainforests, abundant cultural diversity, and reputation for hospitality and friendship offer much more to vistors. Brazil is enjoying a strong economy, and offers good prices on quality merchandise such as shoes and clothing. Eating out is a great bargain and a pleasure. Cuisine choices vary from feijoada -- a hearty stew of black beans and pork cuts, to excellent seafood choices along the coast, to churrasco -- delicious Brazilian barbeque. Whatever your choice, save room to savor a Cafezinho - a small, sweet, coffee served after your meal.
Picturesque Italy
Italy is all about glamour, good food, romance and living the good life. A picture-postcard setting awaits you along every turn, dip and bend through the beautiful Italian lakes region. Lake Como, Lake Maggiore and Lake Lugano are tranquility perfected -- with extraordinary sites, flavors and experiences that will delight the senses. Lined with great eateries, quaint villages, elegant boutiques and pleasant beaches, these "civilized lakes" are meccas for visitors and Italians alike. Ferries and funiculars (hillside trolleys) are great options for seeing the views. While in Lake Como, be sure to go up the funicular to Brunate and see the view -- it's spectacular!
The Great Land "Down Under"
Famous for its natural wonders and wide open spaces, Australia is a continent unto itself. English is the main language, but some visitors may have trouble with some of the quick, word combinations they hear "down-under." Bargaining isn't common, but retailers will often meet or beat competitor's prices. Cuisine is as varied as it's surroundings, with strong Asian influences, British-inspired meats, pasties, and gravies, and the Aussie barbecue -- a staple of Australian social culture. Tipping is not expected, but if you feel compelled to tip for good service, it will typically be appreciated!
