Where to stay with the little ones in the Big Apple
The Plaza: Known to little ones as the home of literary heroine Eloise, the hotel capitalizes on the connection with Eloise-themed activities and a two-room Eloise Suite created by fashion designer Betsey Johnson that includes zebra-striped carpet, pink-padded headboard, prints by Eloise illustrator Hilary Knight, and Eloise dolls, books and DVDs. The Plaza also has a new seasonal package that revolves around the children’s book series “The Magic Tree House.” The Magic Tree House: The Plaza Rock package comes with two books and tickets to the National Museum of the American Indian, while A Magic Tree House: New York City Holiday package comes with two holiday-related books and tickets to ice skating at Wollman Rink.
The Grand Hyatt New York: Little girls will love the property’s An American Girl Package, which welcomes young guests and their dolls with milk and cookies upon arrival, a $25 gift card for American Girl Place, and a doll bed to take home. Other family-friendly options include an Explore package, featuring tickets to the Museum of Natural History and full breakfast, and the Babies Travel Lite program, which allows parents to preorder baby products to be delivered to their room on arrival.
Trump SoHo: This property attracts families with kids of all ages through the new Young Entrepreneurs Program, for ages 3-17. The program offers film screenings at the Children’s Museum of Arts, cooking classes, treatments at the spa, and etiquette classes. NYC Family Packages are available that include in-room breakfast and rollaway or sofa bed. The brand-wide Trump Kids program also features swimming lessons, in-room movies, children’s books and board games, kid-friendly room service menus, and the services of a nanny.
Hotel Plaza Athenee: In partnership with Nelvana Enterprises, the hotel brings Babar – the elephant of literary fame – with welcome gifts and special events for young guests. The program will continue through the end of the year, in celebration of the character’s 80th anniversary.
