Mapping Out Canada

Mapmobility’s top ten recommendations in Canadian travel

Mapmobility, one of Canada’s largest map publishers, has shared some of its recommendations for the first-time visitor to Canada.

Niagara Falls
While not exceptionally high, the falls are very wide (with an average flow between 4 and 6 million cubic feet every minute) and undeniably breathtaking from every vantage point. On summer evenings, fireworks add to the magic.

Canadian Rocky Mountains

Alberta’s mountains, lakes, and waterways convey nature’s majesty from every angle. Take to the slopes and hiking trails at Banff and Jasper National Parks, then cozy up at a five-star resort.

Calgary Stampede
This 10-day rodeo extravaganza that lures one million western-dressed visitors to Calgary, Alberta every July is called The Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth for good reason.

Parliament Hill
Three million people a year come to downtown Ottawa, Ontario to see the gothic buildings of this 18th- and 19th-century military base that now serves the Parliament of Canada.

Old Quebec City
This historic neighborhood “within the walls” of Quebec’s capital boasts museums, horse-drawn carriages, designer shopping, European dining, and the Notre Dame de Quebec Basilica Cathedral.

Algonquin Provincial Park
Sitting between Georgian Bay and the Ottawa River in central Ontario is Canada’s oldest park. Its 2,400 lakes and nearly 750 miles of streams and rivers were formed by the last ice age’s glaciers.

Toronto, Ontario
Canada’s largest city, with an unparalleled performing arts scene, a dramatic skyline, and world-class museums, deserves its reputation as a leading international tourist destination.

L’Anse aux Meadows
This archaeological site, unearthed in 1960 in northern Newfoundland, showcases the only known Norse or Viking village, predating Columbus by centuries

Dawson City
Untouched by modernity, in the wild-and-wooly Yukon, is this city that’s synonymous with the 1898 Klondike Gold Rush. The colorful community speaks to its past through art, music, literary, and natural history enthusiasts.

Prince Edward Island
Travel to the land of “Anne of Green Gables” to taste some of Canada’s best treasures. Dig for clams, shuck oysters, make gourmet chocolates, or, plan your trip around September’s Fall Flavours Festival to mingle with renowned chefs.
