Magic abounds all over Canada during the winter months, but in Montréal, it gets an extra boost thanks to Montréal en Lumière. This annual winter festival is one of the largest in the world, and certainly a must-see if you’re in town. The 15th edition of the festival will take place from February 20 to March 2, 2014, bringing performing arts, culinary events, free outdoor family activities, and other special programming to the city.

Foodies can enjoy the culinary and wine program of the festival, which brings together renowned chefs, wine producers, and speakers to offer unforgettable experiences for festival-goers. Other aspects of culture are also showcased through the festival, including music, circus arts, theater, and dance. The Arts Program offers 11 days filled with an eclectic mix of performances and original creations, from both established icons and emerging artists. In particular, a line-up of special concerts is not to be missed.

For family visitors of Montréal en Lumière, the heart of downtown will be transformed into a family utopia. The free outdoor site will offer activities ranging from shows to activities for children. The whole family is sure to be delighted by Montréal’s renowned party spirit and flair for entertainment.

Night owls and party enthusiasts can keep the celebration going by pulling an all-nighter at “Nuit Blanche.” Each year, the festival ends with this tradition, offering some 180 activities – many of which are free – linked by a free shuttle service. So mark your calendars – March 1, 2014 could be the wildest night of your year!
