6 of the best places in town to dine and drink

For nightlife in Savannah, head to The Olde Pink House, where live music takes place in the basement-level tavern.
There’s no denying that Savannah, Georgia is a top vacation destination for a Southern food-filled holiday. Pay a visit to the following six establishments for a taste of the South’s ultimate comfort food – guaranteed to leave you with a smile after every bite.

22 Square: Named after the 22 squares in the city and located in the trendy Andaz hotel, this eatery relies on farm-to-table cuisine with local, organic, seasonal ingredients. Southern décor adds to the charm, with potted herbs as table centerpieces and large windows for natural light.

The Olde Pink House: Dating back to 1771, dining at The Olde Pink House provides the real feel of a luxury Savannah vacation. Refinement is served up at the former plantation via white tablecloths and polished silverware, but down-home comfort foods and friendly service make it cozy. Fried green tomatoes, macaroni and cheese, and shrimp and grits are staples, while modern fare includes dishes like deconstructed fish tacos.

Mrs. Wilkes’ Dining Room: Open only for weekday lunches, the wait for this restaurant can be extensive – but well worth it. Classic Southern cuisine is served family style, with a menu that changes daily. Classic dishes such as collard greens, black-eyed peas, okra, and cole slaw are staples, and the fried chicken is out of this world.

Chive Sea Bar & Lounge: Perhaps the swankiest Savannah restaurant, Chive offers a menu of fresh seafood and an impressive sushi selection. Modern décor includes posh furniture, sylish chandeliers, and plush seating.

Maison de Macarons: The perfect place to satisfy your sweet tooth, Maison de Macarons offers nearly 50 flavors of this French concoction. Salted caramel, pistachio, and chocolate ganache are among the most popular of the freshly-made treats.

The Coffee Fox: This New York City-style coffee shop takes its brews seriously. Pouring locally roasted coffee made by its own roast master, the owner of Perc coffee, The Coffee Fox also offers cheese platters, wine, and craft beers.
