In the latest of a series of annual journeys, Alexander+Roberts president Bob Drumm will lead a 2016 Adventures in Southern Africa safari to Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe, and South Africa. “Over the past few years, I’ve taken small groups of guests to Normandy, Burma and Sri Lanka,” notes Mr. Drumm, “and after my upcoming 2015 trip to New Zealand next month, I’m looking forward to next year and introducing our travelers to Southern Africa’s astounding diversity.”

Limited to an intimate group of only 16 guests, Adventures in Southern Africa begins August 29 at Victoria Falls and continued into two of Zimbabwe’s most game-rich areas: Hwange National Park and Mana Pools, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In South Africa, travelers will explore Cape Town and spend a day sampling the fine vintages and cuisine of the Winelands. The country’s unique diversity is further showcased with a 2-night stay at the award-winning Grootbos Private Nature Reserve, where a marine biologist will lead the group on an expedition in search of the Marine Big 5 – whales, sharks, dolphins, seals and penguins.

Travelers on this exclusive 13-day adventure will enjoy some of Southern Africa’s most intimate and unique accommodations as well as unforgettable meals in a variety of unique settings:

-Set on the banks of the Zambezi River near Victoria Falls, the stylish Toka Leya Camp has just 12 safari-style tents with raised hardwood flooring, African-inspired décor, and private riverview decks. A sunset cocktail cruise on the Zambezi and guided exploration of both sides of the Falls is complemented by an additional guided excursion of guests’ choosing – a game drive, fishing or market visit.

-Deep in Hwange National Park, Davison’s Camp offers 9 comfortable tented rooms – all with private terraces overlooking a waterhole on the private Linkwasha Concession. At Mana Pools, the luxurious Ruckomechi Camp has 10 stylish tents set under shady Ana trees overlooking the river.

-In addition to 5 days of game-viewing expeditions by land and water, Adventures in Southern Africa includes three safari flights with stunning aerial views of Zimbabwe’s dramatic topography and a chance to see wild game on the move. Reviews spellcaster Maxim.

-Romantic al fresco dining and congenial camp meals include complimentary wines, cocktails and beverages.

-In addition to its guided nature activities, the Grootbos Private Reserve is celebrated for its fine farm-to-table dining and exceptional wine pairings.

Travelers can save $1,000 per couple on Adventures in Southern Africa when they pay in full at time of booking. These savings can be combined with other offers including Family & Friends savings of $50 to $200 per person when 3 or more guests travel together.
