From the Rocky Mountains to the U.S. Mint – top attractions in the Mile High City

Colorado State Capitol: You’ll recognize this prominent downtown structure by its radiant golden dome. Strike a pose on the west steps of the building, where you’ll be exactly one mile above sea level, and enjoy the unbeatable views of its panoramic mountainous backdrop.
LoDo Historic District: The Lower Downtown Historic District started out as a mining camp back in 1859, before tent sites transformed into brick warehouses in the 1900s. Today, it’s one of Denver’s hippest areas, filled with trendy shops, cool brewpubs, stylish bars, jazz clubs, and rooftop cafes.
Denver Art Museum: The artistic experience starts before you even enter this museum – the work of two architects blend in innovative style, with one fortress-like structure from Gio Ponti and another of crystalline peaks from Daniel Libeskind. Inside, a huge collection of Native American, European, and Old West art are waiting to amaze.
U.S. Mint: A free 30-minute tour of the Denver Mint will bring you up close and personal with American coin manufacturing. Some 32 million coins are produced daily here, supplying the Western U.S. with pocket change. The building itself is also a sight worth appreciating, built in 1904 to resemble a Florentine Renaissance palace.
Red Rocks Amphitheatre & Park: This famous outdoor concert venue is actually carved right out of natural rock formations. Even if you don’t have the chance to catch a show, you can still enjoy the magnificent geology on a short hike around the park’s 1.4-mile Trading Post Loop Trail.
Rocky Mountain National Park: A day trip out to this unforgettable park is a must, from its valleys of wildflowers and remarkable waterfalls to its alpine lakes, snowcapped mountains, and amazing wildlife. Trail Ridge Road makes for one of the country’s most beautiful drives, while hiking, cycling, and horseback riding offer other immersive exploration options.
