Friday
Start your day exploring St. Simons Island. Stroll along St. Simons Island Pier Village and visit the boutiques along Sea Island Road. Stop for a casual lunch at Brogen’s South in Pier Village with its double-deck ocean views or sit outside on the patio at Iguana’s Seafood Restaurant. In the afternoon, take in island history at the St. Simons Lighthouse,Fort Frederica National Monument, and the Maritime Center. Or save the history for Saturday morning, and rejuvenate your body with a soothing massage at one of the many day spas. In the evening, indulge in savory seafood at The Rooftop at Ocean Lounge or sample the fine southern flavors at Echo. Later, take a post-dinner sunset stroll along the beach.
Saturday
Spend a day on Jekyll Island. Take in a round of golf, a game of tennis, or a bike ride on the island’s 20 miles of scenic trails. Stop at the Georgia Sea Turtle Center and learn about the island’s several different species. For a peek at the island’s affluent history, take a tour of the Historic Millionaires’ Village, where you can see the former homes of the Rockerfellers, Macys, Goodyears, and J.P. Morgan. Dining choices abound in the beach village shopping and dining district. Try the delectable seasonal menus at Courtyard at Crane or the more casual Fins On The Beach.
Sunday
Wind up your weekend in Golden Isles with morning drive to Little St. Simons Island. The Lodge offers a number of naturalist-guided nature walks through an ancient forest, as well as shell collecting, birdwatching, or canoeing. On your way out of town, head to downtown Brunswick to visit the Historic Ritz Theatre. Afterward, stroll down Newcastle Street for a late lunch and some shopping.
