Fireworks, fun and soaking up the sun; there’s no better place to celebrate summer’s favorite holiday, than at the beach. We’ve found the best beaches, from sea to shining sea, for a star spangled celebration to enjoy the 4th of July.

Huntington Beach, California: Surf Style 4th

The quintessential surf town has been serving up 4th of July festivities since 1904. The Huntington Beach 4th of July Parade is the biggest Independence Day parade west of the Mississippi, with more than two hours of floats, bands, and celebrity guests. The multi-day festival includes a 5k run, activities, entertainment, food vendors, and more. The fun concludes with 1300 rounds of fireworks shot off the pier for a specular technicolor display over the ocean.

Ocean City, Maryland: Old Fashioned 4th

There’s something nostalgic about this Northeastern beach town. Maybe it’s the miles of wooden boardwalks, the smell of confections in the air or the postcard-worthy carousel at Trimper’s Amusements, which dates back 1912 making it the country’s oldest continuously operating carousel in the country. But whatever you find most appealing about this vintage scene, one thing is for sure, Ocean City Maryland’s 4th of July celebration is one of the best beach celebrations around. The city offers fireworks displays in two locations, along with free concerts and events for an action-packed day.

Ala Moana Beach Park, Hawaii : Island 4th

Ala Moana has been hosting its signature 4th of July celebration, including the largest fireworks display in Hawaii, for more than 28 years. From July 1-4, the park delivers live entertainment from some of Hawaii’s top musicians, a variety of contests, plenty of shopping and of course, beaching.

Mackinac Island, Michigan: All-American 4th

Commence the Fourth of July with a charming, old fashioned celebration in Northern Michigan. Brimming with All-American activities such as Mackinac Island’s Stone Skipping Tournament and the picnic on the lawn at Fort Mackinac’s parade grounds, there’s no shortage of old fashioned fun for the entire family. Step back in time to the 1880’s Independence Day with 38-gun salutes, patriotic music and Victorian children’s games.

Panama City, Florida: Patriotic 4th

The Star-Spangled Spectacular boasts the largest display of fireworks on the Gulf Coast. Over three nights, perfectly choreographed fireworks shows shoot off from waterfront restaurants and city piers. Family-friendly events run multiple days and include ceremonies to honor veterans and their families, fresh seafood, live music and much more.
