Authentic South Pacific experiences await on the islands of Fiji
Nadi is a popular island with the larger hotels, close to the airport on the main island of Viti Levu. A more authentic experience, however, can be found on the outer islands, particularly the Mamanucas and Yasawas, which can be reached by plane or ferry from Nadi.
Those visiting the Yasawas might consider staying at Yasawa Island Resort & Spa, a 35-minute flight from Nadi. Possible experiences here include a Sigatoka River Safari, taking guests on a speedboat ride up the Sigatoka River to enjoy the scenery and a glimpse of local village life; or a visit to a riverfront village to see a ritual kava ceremony. The traditional rite involves drinking the narcotic kava root, crushed and mixed with water.
