Lindblad to Visit Papua New Guinea

Papua New Guinea is gaining more and more popularity as a destination for travelers seeking everything from adventure to cultural immersion. Lindblad Expeditions-National Geographic will be offering inaugural itineraries that include this exciting destination for the new 102-passenger National Geographic Orion, launching in March of 2014. Orion will be equipped with exploration tools ranging from kayaks to a remote-operated vehicle capable of reaching depths of 1,000 feet, plus full snorkeling gear and a scuba program for up to 24 divers at a time.

Exploring Papua New Guinea, Vanuatu, the Solomans & the Great Barrier Reef
This 25-day journey sails from Auckland, New Zealand on to Norfolk Island, Papua New Guinea and the Torres Strait, delving into the history of explorers, convicts, headhunters and traders along the way. The trip then proceeds to Vanuatu and the Soloman Islands for snorkeling, World War II history and an exploration of island cultures. Finally, cruisers head to the Great Barrier Reef, capping off a trip of bucket-list destinations.

On this 22-day sailing, travelers will have the opportunity to explore the Great Barrier Reef in all its pristine marine glory.
