A 50-minute flight from Rarotonga gets you to Aitutaki, and once you’re here, there’s no shortage of things to do.
The island’s rich culture draws on local legend – Aitutakians believe they descended from Ru, a seafaring warrior who is said to have settled on the island with his four wives. For a closer look at Aitutaki culture, an island night floor show is not to be missed. Men dressed in grass cuffs and loincloths stomp their feet and swing their knees, while women move their hips with impossible fluidity. Try Samade on the Beach, which has been known to offer a buffet and show.
