4 dazzling beach destinations on the Pacific Coast

Riviera Nayarit
Located just north of Puerto Vallarta, Riviera Nayarit has nearly 200 miles of coastline. One standout beach is Punta Mita, where the water conditions are excellent for surfing and snorkeling, though the shore is a bit rocky. Sayulita is another noteworthy choice, with a jungle-meets-the-sea setting and challenging waves for surfers. Beach vendors and seaside restaurants also make it easy to sample fresh, local seafood.
Los Cabos
You’ll never have to wonder what to do in Los Cabos, with so many picturesque beaches to choose from. Among the most beautiful is Lover’s Beach, an isolated strip of sand near the iconic Arch of Cabo San Lucas. Hop on a boat to visit this tranquil paradise, where snorkeling, sunbathing, and a walk to the Medano beach area offer various diversions. Chileno Beach is another prime choice, with perfect conditions for snorkeling, kayaking, and stand-up paddleboarding.
The Sun Triangle
Summer brings much excitement to this group of destinations, which includes the beaches of Acapulco, Troncones, Ixtapa, and Papanoa Bay. The annual Surf League Open Mexico takes place on these beaches, with the high-profile Surf Open Acapulco among the events. Other great beach options in this region include Caleta Beach in Acapulco for parasailing, jet skiing, kayaking, and snorkeling, and Playa La Ropa in Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo, featuring excellent swimming conditions and gentle waves.
Mazatlan
Sabalo Beach is a top choice here during the summer months, with three large islands off the coast that keep the surf gentle and welcoming. A wide stretch of sand makes this beach ideal for relaxing, while opportunities for jet skiing, windsurfing, parachuting, sailing, kayaking, and sport fishing are all options for a bit more excitement.
