Travelers have more options with a growing selection of mid-range hotels

Mid-range hotels are an alternative to all-inclusive or luxury resorts in Cancun, and often come with such perks as free breakfast and free in-room WiFi.
Cancun hotels are probably best known for offering upscale resorts and all-inclusive stays. Those looking for a more mid-range option, however, are starting to see an increase in their options, with more and more recognizable brands moving into the area.

Benefits of mid-price hotels can include attractive prices and amenities such as free breakfast, free in-room WiFi, loyalty programs with major hoteliers and the security of brand recognition.

Aloft Cancun is a new option that opened this year in the Hotel Zone close to Playa Marlin Beach, multiple shopping centers and the Cancun Center convention facility. This 177-room hotel is part of Starwood’s W-inspired Aloft Brand, and features a hip, social atmosphere for prices as low as $89 per night.

A bit off the main strip of the Hotel Zone is the Holiday Inn Express Cancun Zona Hotelera, located in a quiet residential neighborhood with proximity to the Pok-ta-Pok golf course. The hotel is not on the beach, but does have a swimming pool, and room rates start at $87 per night.

The Courtyard Cancun, a Courtyard by Marriott property, is one of the closest hotels to Cancun International Airport. A free shuttle takes guests to and from the airport and to the beach. Prices start at about $100 per night.

In downtown Cancun, the 137-room La Quinta Inn & Suites is close to the Malecon Americas shopping mall. Prices here start around $87 per night. Also near downtown is the Fiesta Inn Cancun Las Americas, part of Grupo Posadas, the company that owns the Fiesta Americana and Live Aqua brands. The property’s contemporary décor and amenities are topped off by a rooftop pool with impressive views and a location adjacent to Plaza Las Americas shopping mall. Prices start at about $138 per night.
