With an eye on the 2020 Olympics, Japan is seeing a slew of new hotels
Ritz-Carlton Kyoto: Just opened on February 7, the property’s design features ancient Japanese beauty fused with 21st century style, as created by hotel interior designer Peter Remedios. Guestrooms focus on scenes of nature and offer views of Kamo River and the Higashiyama mountain range.
Osaka Marriott Miyako Hotel: Located inside Japan’s tallest structure, the Abeno Harukas Tower Building, the new Osaka Marriott is scheduled to open on March 7. Guests will enjoy sweeping views of the city as well as internationally inspired dining and worldwide liquors at the hotel restaurant.
Orion Motobu Resort & Spa in Okinawa: Debuting in July, the Orion Motobu Resort will feature views of the ocean and an address next door to the Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium, one of the world’s largest aquatic zoos.
Andaz Tokyo Toranomon Hills: Located in Toranomon Hills’ 52-story business center in the heart of Tokyo, the Andaz Tokyo will offer easy access to the financial and government districts, as well as nature-oriented décor and a traditional Japanese architectural style. The new hotel is scheduled to open in summer 2014.
Royal Park Hotel The Haneda: September will see the opening of this transit hotel. Adjacent to Haneda Airport’s international terminal, the hotel will allow connecting passengers to bypass immigration counters at check-in.
