As Labor Day approaches, we are left with one final opportunity to bid those slow, sun-filled days of summer farewell. Consider spending the holiday weekend enjoying friends and family lakefront this year. We’ve broken down our five favorite lakes by region for the ultimate end of summer celebration.

Whether you enjoy sunset strolls along the lake, sailing on glistening waters or sipping cocktails at a speakeasy, Lake Geneva has you covered. Wisconsin’s iconic lake offers such a variety of activities that it leaves us longing for one more summer night. Stay steps away from Lake Geneva at Harbor Shores and take advantage of one of the many packages the resort offers, such as the Winery Package or the Stay and Play.

Northeast: Finger Lakes, New York

Wine lovers take note, here’s a lakeside Labor Day destination for you. The Finger Lakes is known as one of the best wine regions in the East, primarily for Riesling. With no shortage of lakes, there are a host of options to choose from for fishing, swimming, and boating. Catch a summer concert at the lighthouse or follow the journey of hops at the Hop Harvest Festival featuring pints, tastings, music, and food.

South: Lake Lanier, Georgia

Located a quick 45-minute drive from Atlanta, Georgia’s much-loved lake is a relaxing reprieve with its’ quiet coves and sandy beaches. If you’re looking for Labor Day adventures, head over to the lake’s Margaritaville for exciting rides, jaw-dropping waterslides, and heart-pounding ziplines. Experience glamping at Lanier Islands, with the creature comforts of air-conditioning, lighting, and electrical outlets.

Pacific Northwest: Lake Crescent, Washington

Pristine waters of the glacially carved lake make it one of the best reasons to escape the city and head to foothills of the Olympic Mountains. Hiking trails, picnics, and kayaking make Labor Day weekend at Lake Crescent even more alluring. While camping is always an option, the Lake Crescent Lodge offers a more refined stay with beautiful cabins and savory dining. An added bonus? A dip in the mineral hot springs. So pack your bags, grab a canoe (or rent one) and explore the rugged beauty of Lake Crescent.

Southwest: Lake Havasu, Arizona

Lake Havasu has it all: majestic mountains, tranquil waters and a LOT of sunshine, 300 days a year in fact. Pick your pleasure: from scuba diving the depths of Lake Havasu to touring the famous London Bridge (which was purchased from London and shipped to Arizona). Stay at The Nautical Beachfront Resort for the ultimate Lake Havasu experience where you will have access to a heated Caribbean style pool with a palapa bar, three restaurants and bars, and even a water park. You’ll be able to bring Fido along for the fun since the resort is pet-friendly.

Wherever your Labor Day plans take you; we hope your summers send off is one to remember!
