Architecture Photography: Before becoming The Chatwal, the 130 West 44th Street building that was designed by Stanford White in 1905 was home to America’s first professional theater club with elite members like Charlie Chaplin, John Wayne, and Fred Astaire. With this rare connection to one of the most celebrated architects of the Gilded Age, The Chatwal has just launched half- and full-day private photography classes. A professional photographer takes guests on a picturesque tour of the monuments that were designed by White’s firm: The Astor, Vanderbilt, and Tiffany mansions; the Century and Metropolitan clubs; Judson Memorial Church; and the Washington Square arch. Those looking to complement their iPhone skills can borrow the latest Leica TL camera to use during the adventure around town. Classes start at $500 per person for a half-day, four-hour session.
You are Beautiful: The Chatwal rolls out the red carpet for theater buffs through an exclusive partnership with Beautiful: The Carole King Musical. Guests who book a two-night stay from now until August 2018 will receive two tickets to the Tony-awarded show, which honors the musician’s achievements in the last six decades, as well as a private backstage tour of the Stephen Sondheim Theater, the first LEED-certified Broadway theater. The package also includes a three-course pre-theater dinner at The Lambs Club and a ‘Beauty’ manicure at The Chatwal’s Red Door Spa by Elizabeth Arden. One-night stay starting at $695.
Located in the heart of Manhattan, The Chatwal Hotel seemlesly bridges classic and contemporary offering 76 rooms and suites. Nestled between Rockefeller Center, Bryant Park and the Theater District, the landmark hotel, originally built in 1905 by Stanford White, has been beautifully restored and renewed by master architect Thierry Despont, and re-launched in 2010. The hotel is home to the Red Door Spa by Elizabeth Arden, and the Lambs Club Restaurant. This award winning hotel is the vision of hotelier and entrepreneur Mr. Sant Singh Chatwal and has been recognized in Travel + Leisure’s 2016 World’s Best Awards in the Top 10 Hotels of New York. The property was also recently included in Andrew Harper’s handpicked collection of finest properties in New York.
