A special Valentine’s Day insider spotlight

Romantic destinations abound all over the world, often in some of the most unexpected destinations imaginable. So whether you’re looking for love or traveling with someone you love, these six cities will inspire passion, romance, and – most important – love. And that is all you need on Valentine’s Day.

Bogota
Latin culture teems with romantic overtures, and passion is first and foremost among the stunning colonial buildings, graceful parks, and hidden restaurants. During the day, marvel at paintings at the Museo del Oro, then take a romantic boat ride in the afternoon sun at parque Simon Bolivar or a breathtaking cable car ride to the summit of Monserrate. An early evening stroll around the La Candelaria, where intimate restaurants line cobblestone streets, always promises an unforgettable evening of passion.

New Orleans
From romantic picnics sipping mint juleps under sycamore trees in City Park to a sunset Mississippi River cruise aboard the Steamboat Natchez, New Orleans’ breathes romance. Hop on a horse-drawn carriage for a clip-clop around Jackson Square, rekindle love over a romantic dinner at Bayona, then snuggle up while the slow jazz at Snug Harbor sets the mood.

Hong Kong
Underneath all the glitzy modern skyscrapers, Hong Kong has a romantic beating heart all its town. Here, love blooms over spectacular dinners with panoramic skyline views. Look out your hotel window and watch the sun set over a never ending show of Chinese “junks” sailing along the harbor, then head to a secluded spot on one of outlying islands beaches. Steal a kiss in paradise.

Paris
It may seem an obvious inclusion, but Paris really does evoke love, romance, and lust at every turn. Seemingly on every street, in every café, love is all around. Share a kiss next to a fountain in Tuileries Gardens, take a sunset stroll along the Seine, walk hand-in-hand underneath the Eiffel Tower, and taste mocha tiramisu-flavored ice cream at Berthillon. It’s love, Parisian style.

Vienna
Historic 17th- and 18th-century architecture sets a romantic vibe in Vienna. Lovers can walk along the Danube, watch a ballet at the Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), take a horse-drawn Fiaker carriage along cobblestone streets of the Innere Stadt, and sip wine in an intimate wooden booth at the Esterházykeller. Bliss is enternal here.

Sydney
A romantic evening in Sydney must include with an evening at the iconic Sydney Opera House. But let romance blossom throughout the day. Wander through the picturesque greenery of Royal Botanic Gardens or a walk along Bondi Beach. Before the opera, take a water taxi to Boathouse at Blackwattle Bay for a lusty seafood dinner and gorgeous waterfront views.
