Get the most out of this Cook Islands destination with these tours

Highland Paradise, the Cook Islands Cultural Centre on Rarotonga, provides an inside look at local culture – and a dance show.
With so much to see and do on Rarotonga, the largest of the Cook Islands, sometimes the best way to catch the highlights is on a tour.

Raro Mountain Safari Tours
To see the rugged interior of the island without having to break a sweat, hop on one of Raro Mountain Safari Tours’ four-by-four vehicles. Guests will traverse the ancient road of Are Metua, built with volcanic slabs of rock, to visit sites such as the sacred altar and ancient meeting place of Te Arai-Te-Tonga Marae. Riders will be met with stunning views of the lagoon, as well as sites such as Papua Waterfall and the green Avatiu Valley, leading to an up-close view of the Needle, the highest point on the island and a site of ancient significance.

Highland Paradise
Set on a mountainside, Highland Paradise, the Cook Islands Cultural Centre, offers guided cultural tours. Visitors will see a showcase of the island’s spirituality, ancient legends, entertainment, struggles, village living and more. The tour lasts about three hours and includes a light lunch.

For added cultural engagement, the center offers sunset cultural nights on Wednesdays and Fridays, including a cultural dance show and feast.
