You may now know this, but Brazil has it’s very own Stonehenge! It is called the Amazon Stonehengea, and is located in Amapa state, Brazil, near the city of Calçoene. It consists of 127 blocks of granite, each up to 4 meters tall, standing upright in a circle measuring over 30 meters in diameter at the bank of the Rego Grande river on a hilltop. Of course, if you are into nature, then you absolutely have to visit Iguazu Falls; these are waterfalls of the Iguazu River on the border of the Argentine province of Misiones and the Brazilian state of Paraná. The falls divide the river into the upper and lower Iguazu.
If you’re religious or simply like religious architecture, then Brazil has a lot to offer as well. Your first stop should be the Basilica of the National Shrine of Our Lady Aparecida (roughly translates to Our Lady of Conception Who Appeared). It is the second largest church in the world, after St. Peter's Basilica in Vatican City. When it comes to beauty of interior, you absolutely have to see the São Francisco Church and Convent of Salvador; it is located in the historical centre of Salvador, in the State of Bahia, Brazil. The convent and its church are very important colonial monuments in Brazil.
And of course, what kind of Brazil visit would it be if the tourist doesn’t visit the Carnival of Brazil, which is an annual Brazilian festival held between the Friday afternoon (51 days before Easter) and Ash Wednesday at noon, which marks the beginning of Lent, the forty-day period before Easter. Of course, let us not forget Micaretas, which are are off-season celebrations similar to Brazilian Carnival. The micaretas are similar to the Bahian Carnival and very different from the samba school parades that are popular in Rio de Janeiro. The central feature of a micareta is a large truck called a "trio elétrico."
